River Dart Mud Run
13th October 2019,
River Dart Country Park, Ashburton, Devon.

Following the success of the last 6 years, the Mud and Sweat Mud Run Event 2019, will again be taking place at The River Dart Country Park, Ashburton. This year will be even bigger and better!
In addition to the 5km and 10km races for both Solo Runners and Teams, we will also be running our popular Kids Race for under 16's of approximately 2.5km - the Kids Super Hero Race will be supporting our nominated charity CAP UK. New for this year, will also be the option for kids to enter as a team.

All races will be exciting and tough off road running races - expect some small natural and man-made obstacles (scramble nets, water, tunnels, pirate ships) and plenty of mud!

There are huge discounts on offer for getting a team together, and also the earlier you enter, the cheaper it is!

The Mud Run is a friendly, fun event and as challenging as you want to make it.
The course is set in open meadows and dense woodland alongside the beautiful River Dart. The obstacles are a mixture of natural and man made being both creative and thrilling. There is something for everyone whether you are running solo, as part of a team, raising money for charity or supporting someone in the event, the park has so much more to offer to make it a great day out for everyone.
For those new to this sort of event, or who prefer a shorter distance, we will also be running a Shorter Mud Run (5km), which will include most of the obstacles on the 10km, just half the distance! The 5km and 10km events are only open to runners over the age of 18. 16’s and over may enter, as long as their entry form is countersigned by a parent or guardian.
For the Under 16’s, we will have a shorter race ‘The Super Hero Mud Run’ of approximately 2.5km, which will have most of the obstacles, but less running. This event will take place at an entirely different time on the day, to the adults’ race. We will also be splitting the Super Hero Mud Run into three races, one for 7-9 year olds, one for 10-12 year olds and one for 13-15 year olds. A parent may accompany their child in the 7-9 and 10-12 race - just book a space during checkout.

We are also offering discounted Family Tickets this year - why not book 2 adults into either the 5km/10km Mud Run and 2 children into the Super Hero Mud Run ... make it a family day out!

Some Hints And Tips For Entering

We use SiEntries as our entry platform. To use the SiEntries system you must first Register your Details. Registering for the system allows you to view and modify any entries you make, memberships you join or goods you purchase. Once you have registered, you will be able to enter the event.
Select your category – either 10km, 5km, Kids Super Hero Mud Run of Family Ticket. Then choose your team size; whether you are an Solo, Team of 3-5 People (for 10km or 5km), a Team of 6 or more or Family.

For teams of 6 or more, individuals entering this category automatically get a 10% discount. If you subsequently do not manage to get 6 people to enter your team, you will have to pay back this discount - there will be a tick box to say you are happy to do this.

If you wish to purchase a Family Ticket which covers 2 adults in the 10km or 5km and 2 kids in the Super Hero Mud Run - first choose whether you would like the adults to enter the 10km or 5km events and enter all 4 of you - again, a 10% discount is automatically applied to this type of ticket.

You can enter multiple people at at time - so a person can enter all members of their team if they wish.

'Team Information' - If you are a team you can either create a team, or if you are joining an existing team, just choose from the dropdown list.

'Participant Information' - Easy, fill in the boxes. The postcode field should have a space in the middle e.g. EX5 8PT.

Date of Birth – please enter it in the following format DD/MM/YYYY (so 30th May 1980 would be entered 30/05/1980)

If you have a nervous child aged 7-12, and wish to accompany them around the Kids Super Hero Mini Mud Run, you can purchase an 'Accompanying Adult' ticket for £8.50 - just tick the relevant box.

'Terms and Conditions' - read and if you are happy with the terms, accept these as part of your conditions of entry.

Next page 'Review Basket & Checkout' - enter payment details. You can apply any discount codes at this point.

For further information go to FAQ's.

Refunds and Changes

Please note, we will be unable to provide refunds on entry payments in the event of dropping out of the event (including injury), as per the terms and conditions agreed to during the entry process. From the moment we begin to organise an event, we start to incur costs. Your entry fee is invested into the cost of staging the event - everything from printing to marshals, from race numbers to marketing. Organising any event requires a considerable amount of forward planning, risk and expense. Therefore we are unable to offer refunds or defer entries. However, if you wish to change category after entering, or want to transfer your entry to another person – you can do this up to 7 days before the event. Please note, a £3 admin fee will be payable for swapping category or for name changes – for either of these services, please email us at events@mudandsweat.com.

If you have to wait at an obstacle, ensure you queue in the order that you arrive.

-
Please be courteous and considerate to all other path and road users and fellow runners.

You must sign a race waiver before participating.
-
Even if you retire or drop out from the event, you must report back to the finish and download area, so we don’t start a full-scale search for you!
-
In an emergency follow the Emergency procedure (as described in the event briefing) and report any incident to a Marshal.
-
The Event organisers reserve the right to terminate an individual’s run on health and safety grounds, re-route, cancel or stop the event due to safety reasons. Entry fees, however, are not refundable.
-
If in doubt about a safety and health matter, please ask a member of the Mud and Sweat Staff Team or the First Aid Team.
-
Participants agree to being filmed and photographed as soon as they are onsite till leaving, which may be used for future marketing purposes by Mud and Sweat.
-
Spectators will be free to roam the course, but they may not go on the obstacles!
There will be the option to Camp at The River Dart Country Park on the Saturday evening. This needs to be booked through The River Dart Country Park.

Why not arrive on the Saturday, enjoy the Sawmill Bar that evening and have a relaxed start on Sunday morning – or if you have kids, enjoy playing in all the park areas on the Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning?
The Sawmill Café will be open for meals on both Saturday evening and Sunday morning/lunchtime. Plus, if you have booked to camp on the Saturday night, it includes your Car Parking for the event.

The Mud Run is the ideal opportunity to use as a charity fundraising event.

This year our charity partner is Child Assault Prevention UK www.safestrongfree.org.uk, a local charity that helps around 15,000 children in the south west learn how to stay “Safe, Strong and Free” and works with schools and parents to build safer communities for children. Contact simon@safestrongfree.org.uk to find out more and for support with fundraising for CAP UK. They do have a number of free places available for runners who would like to fund raise for CAP UK - contact Simon for more information. If you would like to set up a fundraining page for CAP UK, please click HERE.

There will be a prize for the participant or team who raises the most for their nominated charity – just let us know prior to the event, how much you have raised and for which charity.

If you work for a Charity - we do have special offers, where you can buy discounted places for your fund-raisers, and then ask them to raise a minimum amount in order to run for your charity - send us an email for more information events@mudandsweat.com.
Each Mud Run requires a large number of people to make it the fun and enjoyable event that it has become.
We have a core team who help prepare for the event but on the weekend of the event itself, we need lots more hands to the pump.
If you are enthusiastic and hard working, why not become part of the Mud and Sweat team and help out on the event. We will provide you with everything you need to know, along with an event T-Shirt and refreshments. In addition to this, you will get a free entry into a future Mud and Sweat event.
Jobs on the day are varied - often it's just pointing the way and cheering the runners on! Maybe if you are supporting someone who is running in the event or just wanting to see the event close at hand, your help will be very welcome. The marshals are the main point of contact and a very important part of the experience for many of the runners.

Here are the results from the 2018 event:
Q. Do I need to be able to swim?
A. No, the deepest water that you will have to wade through will only be approximately chest deep. There may be points on the course where you may be briefly submerged.

Q. What if I want to skip an obstacle?
A. We strongly encourage everyone to complete every obstacle although you won’t be forced (you'll probably regret it if you don’t anyway...)!

Q. What if I get injured?
A. There will be Mud and Sweat Marshals spread out along the course. In the event of minor injuries, we would ask you to make your way to the start/finish area, where our First Aid team will be based throughout the event. In the event of a more serious injury, we will have a 4 x 4 vehicle to assist you back to base safely and quickly if required.

Q. What obstacles are there?
A. The exact route and obstacles are always kept a secret until just before the actual event, but expect a mix of natural and man-made obstacles potentially streams, steep banks, steps, cargo nets, balance beams, hurdles, lifting and carrying sandbags/logs for a short distance etc

Q. Are there water points on the course?
A. For those on the 10km event, there will be a table with cups of water on, after the first lap at the halfway point, and all participants on every event will be given a bottle of water at the finish.

Q. Is there a bag drop?
A. No, there will not be a bag drop – but we will have a key drop (for car keys) at the Registration Marquee.

Q. For the Kids Super Hero Mini Mud Run, may I run with my son or daughter?
A. We will allow an adult to accompany their child in the race age 7-12 races, if they are concerned or nervous, at a cost of £8.50 (only one adult per child will be permitted to run). Please book your place during the registration process
